Intermountain
Champion Series
Sportsmanship
The goal of all sports is
to teach good sportsmanship. The Intermountain Champion Series
upholds that same principle.
In the words of Kristie
Murano, 2000 and 2003 world champion and U.S. Olympic Committee promoter
of good sportsmanship, "Sportsmanship is a necessity in every sport,"
she said. "When kids learn sportsmanship, they show respect for
themselves, their coaches and other teams It is necessary for all
generations to learn sportsmanship.
With that in mind, if the
series founders or tournament directors of tournaments in the series
observe behavior by coaches or athletes that do not uphold the
principles of good sportsmanship, the athlete(s) involved may forfeit
the points earned in that tournament toward an Intermountain
Championship or be removed from consideration altogether.
Examples of misconduct
include being verbally abusive to officials, other coaches or other
athletes, or other violations of USA Wrestling rules, such as
registering in the wrong age division. Please note that
disqualification or being issued a red or yellow card are not necessary
for the athlete to forfeit points.
